Somaya’s Style Is The Future! Swagger jackin is not allowed.

People ask me all the time “Your style is unique, what inspires your style”…?

My answer: Strong female comic book characters! My waist is a size 28, I like wearing corsets to exaggerate it to a 23/21 inch just like they did in the 50′s, reminiscent to  female comic book heroes. You know, the ones that kick major ass, take names, help the good and show females EMPOWERMENT. A walking comic book mixed with the Matrix. Bad ass, not afraid to push the limits and rebellious to the core!!!!

Everything I wear is inspired by my rebellious Gemini personality and pushing the limits of futuristic fashion.  From my hair style, bangs, short bobs, pink hair, crazy hair, blond and black hair etc. To my signature,  wearing black, vinyl, leather, metal, a bandanna on my wrist and brass knuckles. The brass knuckles should not to be confused as a meaning for violence. It means, “Fight for your right to be a voice in this world”….! There is a story behind many of the pieces I wear. Growing up in a household of strong women in my life, my mother and grandmother. I always took to “strength” as a sigh of power, versus “beauty” being power. Since I can remember. I have been a huge fan of vintage Foxy Bown BOSS LADY type of characters. Back when women were portrayed as strong, independent  and empowered women. And not the unrealistic “Barbie” vibe that seems to be the latest media trend.

Then we have the other “rare” Gemini Twin of mine, the girlie girl **pukes** haha You may see me in a skin tight  Herve Leger dress, matched by a sexy pair of Christian Louboutin stilettos. However, I prefer a more female empowering piece. I am blessed to have a fabulous styling team that helps my ideas come to life. I look forward to being a part of tomorrows fashion icons. I will share a few pieces for you here. I forgot to mention. I am obsessed with funky and huge glasses. Designer or not. I just love them!

This was inspired by vintage 50′s pin up military. The eye patch symbolizes the term “I sleep with one eye open”..! It was an outfit I put together and took the idea to my stylst, for my song/video collaboration with Rapper Ras Kass. Look out for the song “Since U Been gone”….! It is tres fab~
