Now let’s get to the good stuff. I’m excited to say that after years of struggling as an artist. Going through every nightmare story you can think of and turning down several record deals, that I shoooooo cried to after :/ I have finally found a situation I am extremely happy with.

For those of you who are new to the name Somaya Reece. I have been playing the violin since I was 9 and trying to make records since I can remember. Unfortunately I was sabotaged my entire earlier career with lies, deception and even a manger that laundered my money! I will spare you my story and explain my crazy journey to where I am today, later

I’m proud to tell you, that in the past few months I went into negotiations with several record deal offers. After being independent for many years and going through an intense struggle. I felt it was time I needed a little extra help but I didn’t want anyone to “own” me. I have worked on my own to build my brand, got my own TV show deal, 30 million+ plays on my music myspace, my own shoe line of kicks, commercials, films and television shows. All on my own!

After careful consideration I chose the best “deal” that suits my needs at the moment. If any of you are familiar with INgrooves. They have merged with Universal Music Group. The award-winning sales and marketing division of Universal Music Group (UMG), the world’s leading music company, has expanded its relationship with INgrooves, a leading provider of digital distribution, marketing and promotion services to the independent music community **ahem** Like ME INgrooves is one of the largest, respectable of digital media infrastructure company that provides various distribution and marketing services via its INgrooves and ONE Digital divisions. INgrooves provides clients customized distribution, marketing, promotion, synch licensing and administrative support to help maximize the earnings potential of specific releases or catalogues. For now, this is my decision. The future is finally looking bright, now that I have taken the bull by the horn. And am more educated about the biz!

So basically, i’m with the big boys now, I get to be somewhat independent  in the sense that, my “music” is signed and not all my other works such as my acting, tv shows etc. I still own my own name, everything is on my own terms, but I have singed a deal to thee biggest global distribution company INgrooves, which is backed by Universal Music Group.

My single “Tramp” will release under my very own company/label “Humble Blessings” on Itunes Feb 23th, 2010!

This not mean I can just kick back and not work. No no no no no.  Now comes the  fun yet tough work.  Establishing myself as an artist! Be patient with me, I promise not to disappoint you. I wont rest until I am in the mix with many of today’s amazing artists. I have taken a long time off to develop myself and my craft.  I refuse to lose! I CANNOT LOSE!!!!!!!!

Thank you to INgrooves for believing in me and now making me their top priority artist. Trust me, it is NOT easy to get a deal like this considering I don’t have any established records. They only do this for artists that have been selling A LOT OF RECORDS. And omg lol I had no idea how many pieces of paper you have to sign. It was as thick as a book and a grip of lawyer documents. I am ever so thankful and only hope to bring you the most awesome records. Matter of fact, I WILL bring you great records now that I feel more comfortable and have taken the time to develop as an artist.

Thank you to the fans/family who believed in me. Who sat by me in this scary journey, when I went homeless, starving, living in the hood,  cleaning houses as a maid with my mother, all for this dream. The fans & promoters who  caused a lot of noise in the community about me, leading me to hosting gigs and performances. Further expanding my name across the globe.

Thank you to the ones that helped guide me. My friends who are artists, that helped me better myself as an artist.  There are so many who mentored me, gave me advice, helped with things to better my brand my producers I am working with now (so many to name you know who you are) Eric with Blax Media Group who made my website/myspace page, my good friend DJ Vlad who gave me a platform to expose my record Tramp to the world on his website www.VladTV.com Tim Burton & Patrick McKenzie who shot my first big budget music video on red cameras. All of you, and so many more of you I will never forget you. In fact I am glad we’re working together and remain great friends.

And last of my Miss America speech! lol Thank you to everyone who did not believe in me. Who made me cry at night because you sabotaged my projects.  Told me I would never succeed in life and degraded me. Truly, you have a place in my heart.

My next project is making my very own company/label “Humble Blessings” a huge success. It is my entertainment production company. Stay tuned because it is in the works and I have some huge surprises to come with that.
