Hey guys. Thought i’d share some thoughts,
ideas, visions
I can’t believe it’s been almost 6 months since I moved to New York. Never did I think I would move here. I came here with a small bag and my music. I left everything behind, my parents, my home, my bi weekly 2nd grade class that I teach, my monthly school speeches to the schools, my LIFE!
I’m a pretty positive person, but the brutal reality was, I didn’t know many people out here and yes I was worried this would be a huge disaster.
To be honest. I had no clue NYC would turn out this well for me. It’s been bumpy since i’ve been here let’s not get that confused. I’ve always been an honest artist and person in general. I’m not embarrassed to say that I will suffer for my art at all costs. Why? I mean I could make it easier and hook up with a bunch of execs right? Well. I would never and could NEVER do that. That would be the easy way in. I could never live with myself. And to be Frank. I didn’t even have a place to live until not long ago. I slept at the studio, at my friends places, couches, hotels, it was NOT easy. But I love what I do. Asides from my family. My dreams is all I have in life. that’s it. My dreams and the will to make it happen. And the motto of: NO MATTER HOW HARD IT GETS I HAVE TO MAKE MY DREAMS HAPPEN BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE WILL. I REFUSE TO LOOK BACK IN LIFE AND SAY……I COULDA BEEN!
I’m humbled a lot of people gave me the benefit of the doubt and took a chance in working with me. I’m a BIG risk taker. I was born into a bad deck of cards so i’ve always said EF IT I’M GOING BIG & I’M GOING HARD!!! Why? Because i’ve already seen the bottom. And the bottom isn’t fun. So I have to rise to the top, I have no choice. I still have a long way to go, not for once do I think I am there yet, but i’m excited that I have a small jump start.
My plan was to record my new music sound with Cito On The Beat, do my press tour for my record “Tramp” take a few meetings that I had set up with the labels, and go back to L.A to finish my TV/film meetings I had went on before I left-with a few big TV networks (Early summer of 09′ I had just signed a TV production deal for reality TV) and Lions Gate Films. So much has happened since I got here. I have had the pleasure to work with the biggest DJ’s in the bizness. It’s insane! These are people I tried to reach out to but could never get in touch with. What a blessing. My boy DJ Spin King (Diggy Simmons & Young Simmons DJ) is now working exclusively with me on my new music and mixtape. We dropped “Boss Lady” ft Rasheeda & Lady Luck and it did well (close to 10k downloads in a day) I have been all over the radio, the biggest hip hop blog sites, collaborated with great artists, I have recorded a lot of GREAT music (many you haven’t heard yet) and have met with 4 major record labels. My biggest highlight was to fly down to Miami to take a meeting and discuss some things with Pitbull. He is everything I thought he would be. Humble, funny and very welcoming.
Fast forward to now. I’m excited to say that the focus is the music, tightening up my image, and TV. I will discuss that at another time (even though the TV rumors are out there) I am working with Soul Diggaz & Cito On The Beat on my records and Seige in L.A.
Soul Diggaz, for those out of the loop. Have created hits for some of my favorite artists. Soul Diggaz: CHECK OUT THEIR WORK HERE On our first studio session we vibed and created a great record “Tiralo Pa Tras” with the Latin Spanglish flavor that I am. K-Mac has the most RIDICULOUS beats!!!! I’ve turned them onto the TELEMUNDO side. lol Soul Diggaz En Telemundooooooooo!!! lol So awesome.
In conclusion. I thank everyone who has kept an open mind about me, those who have been down with me since wayyyyyyy back before MySpace (the Yahoo days lol), those who been down with me through the hard bumps, those who acknowledge my work ethic is pretty heavy duty, those who don’t pre judge me, everyone who takes my story and is inspired/motivated by it.
Thank you for being part of TEAM SOMAYA!!!!
Let’s take the world by storm. Cool????
